TV Shots (2024)
The human experience is incredibly nuanced, confusing, and painful. Though there is much positive to feel in this life, the pain and struggles we endure can be extremly isolating. For many, film has been a tool for not only feeling validated in these experiences but also to help us understand that we are not alone.
Heavily inspired by the work of Harry Gruyaert, TV Shots (2024) explores the emotional complexity shown in film through close-up photographs of my TV screen. By emphasizing the textures of the screen and movement within it, I aim to bring attention to the nuanced and emotional weight conveyed through film. The flickering light, the colors, and the pixelation. The images on the screen may be fleeting, but the emotions they generate linger, reminding us of our capacity for empathy, vulnerability, and understanding.
